Last month was first time we were able to enjoy some sunshine for a long time and we managed to cram a few days out into the few hot days we had. I did enjoy some good food and some good TV and films too. Here are my Big Cool Five for April.
Ready Player One
Steven Spielberg's epic ode to all things geeky was a film that me and the kids had been waiting to see. The futuristic VR world is not as far fetched as it may first seem and is a really fun adventure. I've written a full review here.
Little Fishy at the Quayside Seaside
The Quayside Seaside has returned to Newcastle's Quayside and this year the food vendor in the shack is the Little Fishy. I've tried the Little Fishy before and their Fish n Chips are really good. Especially when you can sit in the sunshine with beer on the beach (even if the beach is fake).
Mr Mulligans's Space Golf
Whilst I may suck at regular golf (actually I haven't played since I was about 15 so maybe I'm better now) I am a bit of a dab hand at crazy golf. Mr. Mulligan's Space Golf is a crazy golf venue in the heart of Newcastle. It was £22.50 for the five of us to play nine holes which I think is alright, the space theme was fun and the kids loved it too.
James Acaster: Repertoire
One of my favourite comedians recently has been James Acaster. His show on Netflix, which is 4 episodes each one a different comedy routine, had me literally loling. If you like slightly surreal stories involving a wide range of topics such as the time he was on jury duty and how all lollypop men (and women) are in witness protection then you should give this a watch.
Cherryburn
With the sun shining again we headed to Cherryburn near Prudhoe. This is a great little hidden gem, there is a lovely lawn for having picnics or playing garden games (we had a frisbee match). There is also a few beehives where you can watch the bees going about the day and there is a lush walk around a paddock which houses a herd of Alpacas (who doesn't love an alpaca).
Hopefully there will be more sunshine next month so we can have a few more days out. I'll let you know what we've been up to in May so check back soon.
Well, that's all for now.

James Acaster is hilarious I still burst out laughing at the ready to eat soft apricots.
ReplyDeleteI really want to go to Mr Mulligan's space golf as I went to something similar in London called Swingers and it was fab! Katie x
